Too old for jogging?

Question
Hi John:
I'm 66 years old, 6'1'' tall and weigh about 180 lbs. I've been walking about 40 minutes 2-3 times a week and using a stationary bike occasionally. I have no cardiovascular risk factors except mild hypertension that is related to stress of caring for elderly, disabled parents. The hypertension is well controlled by 25 mg. atenolol. My LDL is less than 100 and my HDL is about 60. 15-20 years ago I jogged distances up to 7 miles on a regular basis, and enjoyed it. I'm bored with walking, and it really doesn't cause my heart rate to increase to an "aerobic" level. I'd like to start jogging again and would like to know whether you think it's reasonable to do so. If so, any tips to help me get back into jogging with minimal risk to muscles and joints? (Based on my past experience, I also think jogging will help in dealing with the stress) Thanks. Ken
