Pace vs Distance / Sweats

Question
I'm 58. 4-5X a week I do 3-3.5 miles at about a 9:30 pace followed by 3-4 mile quick/power walk at about 12:30 pace. I have a Garmin Forerunner 205 which is great for keeping track of running stats. I've lost 30 pounds in the last 3 months but nothing recently. Which would be of more benefit: picking up the pace or adding some distance? (2) I sweat...a LOT. When I am finished everything is totally soaked...shirt, shorts, socks, shoes....I can live with it except the sweat in the eyes. I used to have a sweatband called either a Sweat Shoot or Sweat Shot, which was great, but it wore out. I cannot find them anywhere so I have been using the Halo headband but it is only about 50
s effective. Any suggestions?
Answer
Hi Mark
I would add 1 longer run of an easy 6 miles and change the power walk to some easy walk jog with a little intensity. The body adapts very quickly to any level of training,so you have to keep increasing the overload process of the musculosketal system and energy systems gradually so as to avoid injuries from getting carried away.A hat is the only thing i could think of,sweating is very healthy as i'm sure you know. What you have accomplished so far is fantastic Mark.Your body will ajust to the sweating over time as you become fitter.
All the very best
