Core temperature

Question
Hi Wendy!
I would like a little more info on core temperatures and how it affects runners negatively.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Avril

Answer
Hi, Avril

Basically, a core temperature is your body temperature.  Your body is in a constant state of regulation based on external conditions and/or illnesses.

As a runner, or anyone being active outside, you want make sure you train in conditions and have supplies that allow your body's core temperature to regulate.

So, if it's summer, you want breathable fabrics, you want to try to run when it's cooler (like in the morning), run in the shade, and have plenty of fluids.  All of these things will help your body regulate.

The same thing happens when the temperature is cold.

So, it isn't so much that it affects runners negatively, it's just that you want to make sure you are prepared for the current conditions for which you plan to run.

I hope that helps.
