heating up quickly

Question
How come some people can handle heat better than others? Like in soccer i get hot faster than other players, and on really cold days im the only one who's not cold because i warm up so fast. I also can't handle the heat as much as my team mates. Why is that? Is there some scientific reason for why some people can handle the heat or cold better than others?

Answer
Hi Lindsey
I can't really articulate the science in words, but i know what happens, and this i no for sure is that the better shape your in aerobicly, anaerobicly your bodies energy systems will operate more efficently such as not overheating and can handle the higher temps better. The body has built in defensive systems to regulate such things to protect you, kind of like a car when your low on oil, coolant, gas etc.A light goes on to warn you if you get the picture. Also we all have a max heart rate at different ages that no matter how hard you run you will reach a point where you can't run faster.I hope you can understand this and has satisfied your questions. The short answer is conditioning, proper height weight ratio and low body fat with good aerobic and anaerobic capabilities. You know what kind of shape your in and how long you prepared for the season.Think about it.

All the best

John
