runnig machine

Question
I hope you can help with this question, since it's about an elliptical machine. I couldn't find any other area to ask.

The questions is about running form. On the machine I find it easier to run mostly on the balls of my feet. I can lean forward and I am more steady while running. Should I be running with my foot flat on the pedal? When I try this i have to position my body back farther and it's less comfortable to hold the hand bars.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
I'm not a fan of the elliptical trainers because of their unnatural movements that they put people through.  As you mentioned, with different foot positions, its easier or harder to do.  Usually, feet are recommended to be flat on the pedal, in order to engage more muscles in the elliptical action of the machine.

In a more simple answer, I'd stick with regular, more natural movements like running or walking, or even jumping with a rope.
