Question
Hi Jared,
This is Baris. I run about 4km everyday, 6 days a week. My question is about stretching. I jog for about 10 mins to warm up then do a set of stretching. Then I run for about 4km and do another set at the end. How does this sound? A friend of mine says there's no need for the first set of stretching.
Many thanks.
Best Regards,
Baris Unal

Answer
I think it sounds great! The more the merrier, right? If you were a serious runner, then I would say the ten minutes of warm up jogging is no good, but your mileage isn't high enough to worry about tiring before the workout. Stretching before a workout IS important; it prevents injury and gives you a more enjoyable or faster run. For you I say the more the merrier, because it sounds like a great routine. Not necessary, but good for your body.
Happy running,
Jared
