Question
I am 50 years old (49 completed)I am a pure vegetarian(I donot consume even an egg)all my life.Married.I am a runner for the past 1year.  Now my question: Is it possible for a vegetarian to go for sprints.  What kind of vegetarian food do you suggest for improving the speed besides my regular practice and considering my age. Every body(other runners) discouraging me to go for sprints(100 meters, 400, 800meters) and their main comment is only about my food/diet(vegetarian)
with regards

Answer
Hi G
Being a vegetarian will not have any effect on sprinting if that is your choice.Go for it and enjoy and maybe some of your friends will join you when you become successful. No specific foods to enhance performance other than making sure your protein and carbs and good fats are sufficient enough for your increase workload activity. The one thing i would recommend is adding 500mg of vit c with your 3 meals a day to enhance recovery of tissues, cell structure, tendons. If you have other questions just get in touch G.

To your success

John
