Running times

Question
I often read about people waking up at 4:30 AM just to go for a run. I know this may be due to the fact that this is the most convenient time for them to fit in exercise, but is there an ideal time of day to go running? I have also heard that exercising too close to bedtime may actually keep you up longer instead of tiring you out. Also, could the time of day you choose to run alter the amount of calories burnt, or the amount of energy you have?

Answer
Hi Nicole
There is no ideal time to go for a run to improve your health, just when it is convenient and you know you will get it done and reap the benefits. You heard right that running to close to going to bed will keep you up and very alert when you want to sleep. To increase the fat burning process the best time to run is the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up on a empty stomach and the night before make sure you have a good well balanced meal, but very light in calorie content of protein, carbs, vegies, good fats like olive oil. This early morning run will also really provide great energy and alertness threw out the day.ENJOY Nicole.

All the best

John
