Question
hi
i have just started runninng again after a 2 year absence(long story) and after just 4-5 weeks managed to complete 5k without stopping again in 28 minutes...now my problem starts cause now when i run both my outer calves on both legs hurt to the extent that i have to stop for a bit before resuming or stopping alltogether. i recently bought new shoes and had my gait checked proffesionally but i can't work out why my calves hurt? i stretch after a run and warm down ok but they still hurt 3 minutes into a run any ideas?
Answer
Hi Wayne
This is just part of the start up phase and paying the price of a long lay off and in time will dissipate. When you start back up from a muscular skeleton situation you are going to experience many situations that become a little discomfort to deal with. The best advice i can give you and i was in your shoes years ago is stay focused and have a great deal of patience and if your totally comited to your vision of victory and being the hero of your own success story you will WIN.Two things to enhance recovery is 500mg vit c with 3 meals a day and 2 epson salts bath a week for 20 minutes.Bottom line is just relax and keep working the program and if you need more info get in touch with me Wayne. You can call if you like 505 271 5909 here in albuquerque any time.
All the very best
