running in cooler temperature

2016/7/22 10:07:29

Question
Hey John,

I enjoy running and would like to continue running even in cooler/cold temperatures.

I understand the risks of hypothermia/frostbite etc. and have planned for this.

However, I have a few questions.
Do I need to worry about breathing in the cold air?
Is it harmful for the body to be running in cooler temperature?
Is there a temperature that I should not run in?  For example, anything below 20'F.

Thanks,
Eric

Answer
Hi Eric
The answer is for all questions is NO...Let me explain.I have been running for 32 years 7 days a week and have run 24 marathons plus probably about 400 shorter races and used to live on the coast of Maine.Bailey island just north of portland about 45 minutes. The temps are 15 degrees to 35 below all the time for about 3 months and tons of snow and as long as you dress right it will be a piece of cake.Nothing to worry about Eric.If you would like to to talk to me over the phone about this call any time 6am on here in Albuquerque New Mexico at 505 271 5909.

All the very best
to you Eric

John
