Heart Rate

Question
Hello, I hope you can help me....I have been running/jogging off and on (more on) for 15 years (I am currently a 42 year old female, 5' 2'' and 120 pounds). My heart rate tends to stay in the 80 - 100% zone after about 10 - 15 minutes of jogging. I ran a 5K this past Saturday and only ran a 35:27. I felt like I was running as hard as I possibly could! My heart rate hit 160 within 10 minutes, climbed to 170 and I was between 180 - 183 bpm for about the last 10 to 15 minutes of the race. I am so discouraged! Can you please give me some options for dealing with this high heart rate problem. It seems to be linked to getting "heated up." Even though the race day temp was 48 degrees and I was running in short sleeves, it didn't take long to get warm and it seems that's when my heart rate climbs.
I have had a stress test about 5 years ago and also an EKG and a heart ultrasound. They all checked out fine.
Short of walking or slowing to a crawl, is there a way I can get my heart rate down????
I really appreciate any help! I'm scheduled to run a 10K in just over 3 weeks.
Thanks!
Shanna
