Question
Hello John,
I recently started running in order to improve my stamina. I did high intensity interval training as it was proved to give greater gains. But after 2 weeks of running i developed patellar tendinitis. Also, my calves( which are generally toned since i play football sometimes) hurt everywhere especially near the shin. I have been resting for nearly 2 weeks and still the pain has not improved. I also weight train thrice a week and have stopped working out my lower body. But still things have not improved. Please help me. What should i do now?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Adithya
All your problems are not serious and can be corrected quite easily and are quite normal for some one who has progressed to quickly and who's bodies muscular skeleton system could not handle such incredible stress on the tendons, ligaments and collagen so fast. You have to focus on a long term program with a gradual focus on the direction of specific goals and dead lines for attainment that your committed to with out looking back and wondering WHAT IF AND WHAT COULD OF BEEN IF.I would recommend a very private qualified personal coach like myself who has many years of experience in many area's of training to assist you in laying out a real focused journey. If you would like to consult with me it would be a genuine pleasure in deed.A couple of things you can do to eliminate the immediate discomfort is 500mg vit c with food 3 times a day and epson salt baths a couple times a week for 20 minutes the last thing you do before you go to bed at night to max the benefits of recovery of tendons, ligaments and collagen. Also you want to ice your shins and patella as often as you can. Most important thing is don't rush back and develop a plan.I have friends here from there, what town do live in?Let me know if yo have other concerns Adithya.I hope this has help you.

A real pleasure to
help you with your focus
