Question
Hi Carissa,
I've just a question concerning the impact on the joints of
running in place ...
Is it alright to run in place for 30-40 minutes a day 5-6
days a week for cardio on carpet (with running shoes)?
Thanks

Dear Lynn
Congrats on trying to be fit!!!!!
There are no studies to my knowledge that running in place causes injury to the joints of your feet, ankles, knees, etc.
That said...
Always warm up with stretches before and after your run!
Do foot circles and knee circles and hip rotations(like a using a hula hoop)
Sounds like the carpet provides cushion. Wear comfortable gym shoes.
Look in the mirror to evaluate good posture when practicing to run to get good form-equal swinging of arms and legs-and getting your legs as high up as possible.
45 minutes is the minimum best for 5-6 days a week. Add some additional exercises, such as push-ups and sit-ups to total an hour and 10 minutes stretching before and 5 minutes after, for a total workout of one hour & 15 minutes for stretches.
Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
By the way-my name is not Carissa
