Running Form

2016/7/22 10:06:40

Question
Is there an exercise or something I can do to help with my running form, it
is atrocious I look like I'm skating on the grass and bairly raise my knees
or bend my legs. Many people have tried to fix it but it always comes
back. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Answer
My coach has us do sprint drills before we race, and sometimes before hard workouts.
Try doing these 2 or 3 times before you run during the week, and tell me if it helps your form.

*A-skips- on the balls of your feet, skip, and bring your knees up high, and I think you are supposed to point your toes

*Butt kickers-run with short strides, kicking the back of your heels to your butt

*High knees-self-explanatory

*Bounds-Try and jump as high and and as far as you can a few times

*Grape-vine-Except, face one way, and try to bring one leg over the other instead of behind it

Then, do some stretches, if you don't know any stretches, tell me, and I give you a link

Also, try do some hill workouts, and do weight-training (If you need to know specific things to do, again, all you need to do is ask, because just going and lifting weights won't help)

Make sure when you do the exercises, do them correctly.

Oh, and try having someone look at your form while you are running, it is hard to know what your problem is without seeing it.

What I know about form though, is you want each foot to try and go in front of the other (I only saw that from one source, so try it out, but don't rely on it)
Try fixing your posture in general, and that should help
Put your arms in a 90 degree angle
Lean forward, don't EVER lean backwards

Hope that helped! =)

You can always do a follow-up if you have more questions!

Good luck.
