Fair, Fat and 50

Question
Ok, I'm not fair, but I am overweight and 50! and I've been trying to get a bit fitter by incorporating jogging between buildings at work, I spend quite a lot of time going from one building to another, the buildings average only about 200 yards between each, but I thought it would be a start. My problem is the pain I am suffering in my legs, in particular ankles, knees and shins. I've been doing this jogging for the last month or so, but the pain hasn't lessened, although some days are better than others. I swim most nights but I don't feel any of the pain whilst swimming. I don't want to stop jogging, but I'm sure there must be a better way than taking pain killers (Ibuprofen)daily.

Dear F,F & F,
Congrats on admitting the problem and trying to do something about it!!
Start by increasing your swimming time and decreasing your calories.
Try Seattle Sutton diet for about one month. If nothing else-it will teach you proper portions of meals and also help you shed a few pounds. Additional benefits are they are low sodium & cholesterol
Unfortunately the only way to fight gravity is with swimming-until some pounds come off.
Try other non-impact exercises and stretches on a scheduled regimen-say 45 minutes-three times a week minimum.
Are you wearing good supportive shoes at work?
Go see a Board Certified Podiatrist in Orthopedics to be evaluated for orthotics.
Ibuprofen is OK short term and occasionally-if the other suggestions above help to start to decrease the pain.
Hope this Helps!
And Good Luck!
