Question
I recently started exercising. I am doing jumping jacks and running in place for so many minutes. I want to know why my ankles hurt while I am doing this exercise?
Answer
This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Sports Medicine Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......
Dear Connie,
You may have some early arthritic changes or you may be exercising improperly. If the pain goes away when you stop-have your shoes evaluated by a podiatrist who practices sports medicine.
Try warming up your ankles with ankle rotations and stretches before your exercises.
For now try PRICE
Protect-Wear an ankle brace around the ankle and limit the movements that aggravate it.
Rest-Speaks for itself--rest it.
Ice- Will help if the ankle is painful.Ice after the exercises
Compress-Ace wrap or ankle sleeve
Elevate-Will help if the ankle throbs or swells at the end of the day.
Go to our website store at AnkleNFoot.com for examples of wraps, sleeves or supports for your ankle-or temporary orthotics.
See your local podiatrist who usually can diagnose and take care of the same visit.
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
