Right Knee Clicking and Pain

Question
Hi there. My right knee has been clicking for at least 6 months now (people actually hear me coming from down the hallway in my office). It clicks when I walk, but not every step, and clicks a bit louder when I walk up steps. It does not hurt when it clicks, which is why I've been ignoring it. However, 2 weeks ago while I was running around with my kids, I got a sudden, very sharp pain in my right knee. And since then, occassionally if I bend my knee a certain way, I get that same sharp pain again. So now I have stopped running around. I do not do much exercise, but I do a decent amount of walking every day, for many years now, walking to and from work, which probably adds up to 2-3 miles a day. So I went to see the orthopedist and he sent me for an x-ray and MRI and he told me today that both of them came back negative with no visible problems, which shocked me. He told me I shouldn't worry about the clicking especially if it doesn't hurt, and that for the sharp pain I've been getting, he thinks it could be some irritated/tender cartilage and recommends I get physical therapy for it. The reason I am asking my question is because I'm not 100% satisfied with this answer and don't want to go through PT just to find out that this pain is because caused by something actually physically wrong in my knee that maybe the doctor isn't seeing. Please let me know what you think about all of this. Much appreciated, Jason.
Answer
Hi Jason
I'm quite sure you have some tracking and alignment issues going on and possibility a slight case of chondromalacia.I have worked with hundreds of these with great success around the world. It is quite common and quite easy to take care of.I would not get involved with a pt from your doctor.I was my own first client years ago.If you would like i would enjoy getting together on the phone at your convenience to go over everything and answer all your questions with the clarity needed to proceed to fix this.I'm here in albuquerque NM and you can call any time from 6am on..My contact page is on my web site.Any other questions just get in touch.I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best
John
