New shoes or just inserts

Question
I have several questions and no unbiased party to ask. i wear Asics gt2150 with Powerstep Pinnacle inserts for plantar faciitis. I was told that the Asics are a really good shoe for PF and the inserts do give alot of relief. My questions are: Do I need a good PF shoe if I have the inserts or will any running shoe do? and Do i need to replace my shoes and/or inserts? I know that any shoe salesman is going to tell me I need new shoes and anyone selling inserts is going to do the same. Any input you have is welcome.
Answer
Hi Dusty
No you do not a pf shoe or any inserts.Amy shoe that feels comfortable in the first time you try it on is the one for you ,and contrary to what a sales person might say like it will break in is bs if you have a shoe that just doesn't feel right. As long as your shoes you have feel comfortable there fine.I would get rid of the inserts. The real problem is PF can be very debilitating, but you have to treat the cause of the problem and not use crutches like inserts. It can be corrected with out a doctor visit or cortisone shots by stop running and use the bike or stationary bike for workouts. You can also add 500mg vit c with your 3 meals a day plus ice as often as you can along with epson salt soaks for 20 minutes and some self massaging. The number one thing for success is a great great deal of patience. If you have other questions just get in touch. It is basically a micro tearing of the under covering collagen.Just google PF and get educated. You can take care of it yourself.
All the best
John
