Pain on the sole of my foot

Question
Dear Mr. DeHart,
I'm an active, fit guy, who like to stay in shape. I cycle, do yoga and go to the gym several times a week. But I do not run. Until this week, when I decided to accompany my friend who is training for the marathon on a 10km jog.
That was 2 days ago.
Today I woke up with a terrible pain on the right hand side of my right sole. The pain is concentrated on the middle part of my sole. It's made especially worse by applying pressure (i.e. just walking normally causes pain).
To avoid the pain, I'm walking on my tip toes on my right foot.
Do you think I might have been landing funny while I was running, or not stretched properly?
And most importantly, what should I do about it? I would like to keep attending yoga and going to the gym, but I don't want to aggravate the problem.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Bhanu
I'm sure it is not about landing funny or stretching.Seeing that you have not run you probably just strained the fascia on the under side of foot and also bruised that area. You can still do yoga and go to gym,but don't run just bike until the situation dissipates. What you want to do is ice it for 15 minutes as often as you can and do not take any meds they just mask what your trying to fix. Please let me know your healing progress and any other questions just get in touch.
All the best
John
