Long distance running?

Question
Hello!
I plan on running next week and keep going until I finally start school again which is in about a month. I've read on recent forums that if I do endurance running meaning I run long distances at a nice moderate pace, then my calves are sure to have decreased in their size and muscle. If i put my leg in the air and swing my calf it's like a meat hanging on a line. It wiggles and jiggles like crazy! But if I tense up and stand up, It all sticks together.
Please answer these questions.
1) Will running endurance help slim my calf muscles?
2) If I do exercise almost everyday from morning and an hour and at night of intense long distance running, will that cause my calf muscles to shrink? I'm trying to lose the circumference of it.
2) ALSO! WILL IT HELP WITH THE THIGHS TOO?
3) How long and how far should I do each day and how times per week at least?
Answer
