jogging/walking shoe disaster

Question
Hello. I'm writing today because I'm having an extremely hard time trying to find out what shoes to get for my exercise. I'm looking for a good jogging/walking shoe that will last a while. Like today, I only walked about 4 miles and I'm sure I have blisters. Most of my problems are not with the heel, but the upper part of my feet. The bottoms of my toes are the worst. The little toe especially, but the whole upper part is a problem really. And I'm not sure what to get because for a good pair, they are expensive. And unless you know what your doing you almost have to run or walk in them for a while to see if they will hurt you,but by that time you cant take them back and wasted alot of money (which I'm not loaded with). I just really need some help with this because I haven't been able to get the best workout I can in quite a while because of shoes! Can you help?

This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Orthopedic Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......
Dear Katie
Unfortunately, there are so many running shoes and so many changes to the styles it is tough to recommend a certain shoe for your foot-and especially without a visual exam.
Try running shoes that have a round toe box-the front of the shoe. Make sure the shoe is a little roomy and has a removable insert. You can always add a little to take up room-or trim the insert it came with.
Try Avia-they are reasonably priced and have a good line of shoes. Believe it or not-Payless has one or two good gym shoes. Take your time and walk around in the store for 10 minutes. Better to waste an hour of time and get a good fit-rather than waste your money.
If you need width-then New Balance has running shoes in different widths and usually you can get a 15% off coupon from your podiatrist-or look online. Your local Podiatrist should be able to do a better job in a shoe recommend after seeing your feet. Bring in your old shoes for a clue to shoe wea.r
Hope This Helps
Good Luck !!!
