jogging with torn maniscus

Question
My boyfriends daughter had ACL surgery 1 1/2 yes ago. She was a Lacrosse Player. She was wearing high-heals and fell not long after her release from PT. Aggravation #1. Then she began to play Lacrosse again and she could not withstand the pain. She began going to the gym nearly everyday, jogging on the treadmill and tore her meniscus. She had an MRI and. went to see a specialist. He said he was going to watch it for a yr or so and to let him know if anything should change. Three times per week she works out with a personal trainer with weights, square, and much more, in addition to jogging at the gym almost daily.
She signed up for a Lacrosse League and said she was in pain and could NOT do the sprints, etc. When I mentioned the jogging is the problem, being such an intense weight-bearing exercise, she screamed and defensively said, "No way. Jogging is NOT the problem.". Can you please shed some light on this for me?
Thank you.
