Question
hi,i was finally diagnosed with a leg discrepancy of 25mm and hip impingement syndrome.i am 44 and running 800/1500 in world masters athletics.i am back running with 4 month injured.what seemed to have got me back was a 12mm orthotic raiser on my right short leg.my pain is in my left hip.i have mild aching pain all the time now but does not stop me from running yet.my orthopaedic surgeon told me i had arthritis in the right hip from the x ray but its the left hip that hurts.i had an mri and he says its clear.he suggested that i do light running as this will probably help it.i admit i have trained fairly hard and done some races.am i heading for untold damage or all the time my body says its ok then should i just carry on?.when i do speed sessions on the track with spikes i was told i don,t need orthotics as i,m running on my toes.i feel i have an imbalance and i may be causing more pain.what would you suggest?
Answer
Hi Adrian
You have have a very complex question and the only way i can answer it and drill down to with complete understanding to express some of the solutions you can take and i can get more detailed info on your situation and how we can get you back up and correct some of the things to keep you performing as you have been enjoying.I need to talk you on the phone to insure the information is absorbed properly and implemented accordingly to insure a proper prescription to continue at a level you have been training at.You can go to my web site for phone number.Just let me know when we can talk and time.I'm available from 6am mountain time here in Albuquerque to 12pm.I just want to make sure that the info is interpreted properly, and through email it can't happen..
All the best
John
