Question
"Dear Mr.John DeHart ,
I m walking 2 days per week for about 7 km(4.34 mile).I am 42 years old and 60 kg weight. This walking is combined with slow running and brisk walking. In the mean time if i have holidays ,that time too I am walking. Is there any problem of my knees in future because of 7 km walking and running.I had some knee pain( that time no swelling) 2 years before and I have been asked to do some physiotherapy and waxing.I have done waxing for 4 times and even now i m doing knee strengthening exercise.Doctor unable to find anything wrong in my x rays( he told pain due to tightness so do exercise) and after that exercise now I am ok and no pain afterwards. occasional sound i heard during movement that too only occasional.Even after walking I dont have any complain on my knees .I just want to ask whether I can continue what I am doing ? Also when I stand on my knees,it hurts and little pain last for one hour.kindly suggest your advise pl

Answer
Great to hear from you
Kumar....First question Kumar...Answer...NO and what your doing is a high quality long range program i would suggest you continue till you reach 100 years old or better.Your slight knee problems is a tracking and a alignment situation which is normal but not anything serious that can't be corrected with up right stationary bike workouts for 30 to 40 minutes 3 times a week to correct the situation.Just stay away from those doctors since they have no training in sport exercise physiology and are just trying to enhance there pocket book bottom line.Based on your continue bothering of your knee issue it suggest to me that you do have a tracking and alignment situation..That is where the biking workouts i recommend will get it taken care of over time.Bottom line is you will be fine and just consider me as your primary Doctor to consult with for any up coming issues of any kind beyond sport related issues.I have been in business for 37 years and have run 30 marathons and about a 1'000 shorter races and advised a number of the worlds best athletes in various sports and now including you my great friend.Lets make it happen Kumar and let the world no you are here to make your mark in this world.I am with you friend.
Any questions just get in touch
All the best to you Kumar
John
