frustrated!!!!
Question
Hi There,
Read most of the forum questions and I have to ask. I have a 3 yo filly out of Wheaton. I claimed her a month ago and she won the race from wire to wire at 6 furlongs with a tongue tie, blinkers and a shadow roll.
My trainer entered her 4 weeks later, no tongue tie. She broke 1st ran like a banchie until the 1.4 pole and faded back to last and finished there. I was livid. We just ran her again today at 6 fur. with a tongue tie and she did the same thing! Do I just need new trainers as they are not working her right? She is on lasix.

Your problem illustrates why claiming horses can be extremely risky and frustrating at times. Many times the horse抯 original trainer knows a secret about the horse that can take a new trainer months to learn, if he ever figures it out at all. A particular training pattern, special equipment, a health issue that isn抰 readily apparent. It could be anything.
Unfortunately this seems to have happened in your case. The filly either has a health issue that your current trainer is missing, or there is another problem or quirk that he hasn抰 figured out. You may have better luck switching to a new trainer, or you may find that the new trainer can抰 figure out the problem, either. You might consider waiting out the 搄ail?period, during which the filly cannot return to her old trainer, and then sending her to him to train for you.
Is there anything different about her pre-race routine now that you own her? Is she still stabled at the track, or is she shipping?
One thing that immediately springs to mind is bleeding through Lasix. That is always the first thought when a horse stops that fast. Has she been scoped after her recent races?
Good luck with her,
