Horse Problem
Question
Hi Ed
I have a 3 yr old colt that has shown alot of promise. He had 2 starts as a 2 yr old both in the money. He was a nervous horse so when we put him in training this year they did their best getting him to relax. However, this has worked against him. We can run him in a stake, for a tag-doesnt matter. As soon as he gets headed (he likes the lead) he sucks back and gives up. He is cheating. The jock is frustrated as he said he has a lot of run and is being intimidated
Any suggestion? We can try another rider but what can we do in the morning?
Thanks
Answer
hi -- well i don't know if you have tried full cup blinkers on him or not, sometimes that will help, then again if you have used full cup blinkers on him and he is doing what you told me, then you should try cheater blinkers, you cut most of the full cup off and just leave a 1/2 in of cup left. it is like not using blinkers at all. some horses will suck back when they get headed and are forced to try harder. now you might think this is a joke, but you can have a physic come to the horse and read him. they can find out a lot of things about the horse and maybe tell you what he is thinking . i hope this helps you out good luck with the colt. thanks ED HESS
thank you very much for what you do
