Question
I have a 2 year old that has raced twice 6 furlongs in maiden spec weight. Both races were the same he breaks on top run a 22 flat 1/4, 46 at the 1/2 and after that shuts down. I have him on lasixs. I will drop him to 10,000 clm
next out any other advice.
Answer
hi there are many reasons that a horse quits in a race. one could be he is bleeding, but you can scope him to see if there is any blood in his lungs, or if he has a infection. also checks for oxlips in his throat. 21 yr olds tend to get those and they shut down the wind for the horse. also shins could be a problem too. your vet will know if anything t like that is wrong hope this helps you thanks ED HESS
