Getting started in the race horse industry

Question
Hi I have purchased a 4yr old thoroughbred filly that was bred for racing but didn't go through the training(owner went through divorce and wife didn't care for horse so lost condition)Her father is Forever Regal(Can) and mother is Golden plumes and she is registered as no name at this time now i was wondering if it would be worth while breeding her and get a trainer to work with the foal for racing. obviously i cant guarantee the foal but i was thinking that if i found the right sire i might have a chance. I bought her just to ride her around the paddock and she doesn't have a nasty bone in her body and she is 15 or 15.2hh chestnut. What would you recomend me to do to get started

Answer
Darcy,

In my personal opinion, breeding this mare for a racing foal would not be a worthwhile endeavor.  You would be far better off buying a yearling or two year old at auction and having it trained, if you want to get into racing, or maybe even buying a racehorse who is currently racing.
But more importantly, do you have the papers on this mare?  The Jockey Club doesn't show a registered mare by the name of Golden Plumes at all, much less a 4 year old daughter of hers.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do,
