horse trainer
Question
i used to be prominently involved in thoroughbred horse racing.starting as a groom and graduating to trainer and owner from 1970 to 1988,then left abruptly to raise our family.my height of involvment was assistant trainer to Golden Act in 1979 when he placed in all 3 trple crown events while also winning the Louisiana, and Arkansas Derbies,Canadian International,Secretariat Stakes, etc.
I would like to somehow re-enter the business but have been stymied while also being stuck in St. Peters,Mo. very frustrating because I never stopped following the game and have a wealth of bloodstock and general equine knowledge.i love horses and horseracing with such a passion that it is a crime i cant get back in.thanks for reading this.
Answer
Mark,
I understand completely. Horse racing just gets in your blood, doesn't it? Since you don't live near any racetracks, and assuming that you're willing to relocate, your best bet would be to get a subscription to the Blood Horse magazine, and watch for help wanted ads. Other than that, you could write to any old friends that you knew while you were on the circuit, and ask about any opening that they would recommend you for.
Good Luck!
