What is DP, DI and CD in plain english please.

I purchased a gelding and when I looked up his pedigree this are the numbers that came up.DP=7-4-10-1-0 (22) DI=2.67 CD=0.77. His name is Sunday Halo, born in 2002 and I would like to find out if he was ever raced. I also read an article about the formula, but do not understand what Brilliant Intermediate, Classic, Solid and Professional means. Could you explain to me in simple english what to expect from this horse? Thank you so much

To find a race record for your horse, simply go to brisnet.com or equibase.com and select a "lifetime race-record" report.  It will cost you a few dollars.

The Dosage Index to which you refer is simply a mathematical formula that predicts a horse's stamina based on his pedigree.  Simply put, higher numbers in the first two categories [Brilliant (7) and Intermediate (4)] as compared to the last two [Solid (1) and Professional (0)], predict that the horse in question would perform better in sprint races as opposed to distance contests.  Your numbers are very close to average (DI 2.40, CD .70), with an inclination towards the speed/sprint side.  One who dabbles in Dosage would probably predict that your horse could negotiate distances up to 1 1/16M fairly well, but that he would probably prefer 6-7 furlongs.  Don't get too caught up in the Dosage numbers; though informative, they should only be used as a guide in determining the usefulness of a horse.
