QuestionDo you know where I can get plans to build a starting gate for horse racing. I live in Princeton, BC Canada.
AnswerHi Carol,
Building starting gates is a specialised engineering project so the sources of quality information will be few.
I would start with your local racing club and some of the bigger training establishments who have probably done this same research.
A good site to check for contacts is www.jockeysite.com which will give you contacts to racing entities allover the world.
In New Zealand I would contact Brent Wall at Manawatu Racing Club (
[email protected]) or Butch Castles at Auckland Racing Club (
[email protected]). Both are very knowledgable and manage the starting gates for their local areas.
They may be able to point you in the right direction.
Another good site is www.nzracing.co.nz This is the official site for the NZ Thoroughbred Racing Association, the regulatory body for NZ racing. A good contact there is Simon Cooper. All these people know me so you can mention my name if you like.
There are dozens of designs as can be seen any day you watch racing on TV however they all do the same job.
Hope this helps,
Good luck,
Don Boddie
