Broodmare directory?
Question
Is there a service or publication available to look up broodmares, similar to a stallion directory? I have a friend collecting saddle cloths and other horse racing items, and would like to be able to get the pedigree and if available racing history of retired fillies who are now broodmares. Maybe an archive of sales catalogs?
Answer
Hi Cathy:
Brisnet.com is probably the best place to go for the information you seek. You would have to spend anywhere from $1 to $10, or so, to get broodmare records. If you have a lot of time on your hands, you could also try keeneland.com. Go to their "sales results" section and you can search recent catalogues for pedigree information (it's free). The broodmares you need info on may not have been consigned to one of these sales, but it may be worth a try before you spend some money at Brisnet.
