training license
Question
Hello Stephanie,
I have read a couple of your answers about getting a trainers license. I will look into those in the upcoming week. Here is the thing . i have never worked with horses. how do i get a job with a trainer or barn.so i can get actual experience while studying for my license I feel ,and you can tell me if i am wrong. shouldn't i at least be working in the field before buying any kind of manuals . Is there any apprenticeship programs ?
Answer
I don't know of any apprenticeship programs in the USA, but you should definitely have a good deal of experience with racehorses before thinking about getting a trainer's license. AS far as getting a job, it is just like any other job. You find places that are hiring and apply to work there. You'll probably have to start as a stall mucker and work your way up, but apply yourself, and you should move up fairly quickly.
