Chooseing races

Question
I have very much all around racehorse (1400m-2200m).Last season he was a bit tired at the end, ending season with longer races. He is very big and heavy horse who needs a lot of trainig for form, so is it better for horse like him to start reverse (with longer races, and during season finishing to shorter). I cannot mix it because he don't like changes.

Answer
HI -- NO I ALWAYS TRAINED LONG DISTANCE HORSES THE SAME WAY. LONG SLOW GALLOPS EACH DAY AND EVERY SUNDAY OFF. IF HE DIDN'T RUN IN OVER 2 WEEKS, THEN I WOULD BLOW HIM OUT 6 FURS 2 DAYS BEFORE THE RACE. IF HE WASN'T A SORE GOING HORSE. WHEN I FIRST START BACK RACING I ALWAYS WOULD RUN HIM A FEW 6 FIRS RACES THEN GO TO THE MILE AND CONTINUE HIM AT THE LONG RACES.  GOOD LUCK . THANKS----- ED HESS
