QuestionHello,
I am trying to understand the whole dosage thing.
I have a two year old with the following...
Dosage Profile 2 2 4 0 0
Dosage Index 3.00
Center of Distribution +0.75
What does all this mean?
What is his projected race type, sprint, classic 1 1/4, dirt, turf?
I am hoping you can help me understand these figures.
Cheers,
Dennis
AnswerHi Dennis,
If there was a prize for Stump The Expert, you would win it. This is the first question in 9 years that I have been unable to answer. I have never seen these reference figures before, are they peculiar to the Canadian racing scene, I wonder.
Considering it appears to be a measurement guide or formula I suggest you consult your vet and also a feed supplement specialist.
His race type can probably be worked out firstly from his breeding and then other factors come into it, such as maturity, conformation and just good old horse knowledge.
Whoever is doing the track riding will have a feel for how he is working and what distance he will go. If he is a precosious type he might make a 2 year old sprinter or maybe he is a bit lethargic in which case he might be better suited to a later start and longer distance.
The best place to start is the breeding though. Speed breeds speed.
I hope I have been some help however when you have an answer to the dosage formula please let me know as someone else is bound to ask.
Cheers,
