books for aspiring jockeys
Question
hello ma'am, can you please suggest a good book or a DVD for aspiring jockeys, regarding improving their seat, not riding the horse in a hurry as soon as the start is effected, when to use the whip, how to ride neatly in the race not knocking out other runners, how to maintain straight course in the field, handing the mount on the bends and in the final straight. please help out my friend!!!
Answer
Hello and thank you for your question.
Currently I do not know of any books or DVD's that are on the subject currently.
I understand that Myles Neff, former jockey and exercise rider of Riva Ridge and Secretariat has just such a book about to be published later this year, posthumously, as Mr. Neff passed away in July, 2011. His son, Jason Neff, filmmaker (Jockthemovie.com) is completing the book and I believe is considering making a DVD, too. There certainly is a need for one!
If would like to check back in a couple of months, I may know more. As soon as the book is released and available to all distributors, I know it will be offered for sale on www.racehorseresources.com.
I hope that helps to answer your question.
Best wishes,
Maureen Millen
