colt at fast pace - testicles going up
Question
hello sir. exercise riders and jockeys in india keep telling me that a racing colt is gelded for only one reason that whenever it gallops at full pace, its testicles would be going up. but, they never tell me the how does the colt react when its testicles are bouncing. can you tell me sir?
Answer
Horses usually do not react at all. It's a natural part of their body that they get used to having. The horses that do react may have larger than normal testicles which may cause discomfort causing them to not use their hind end as efficiently as they should. This can, in turn, create front leg problems if the colt is trying to avoid discomfort in the rear. Colts sometimes will cause chafing between the legs from the testicles rubbing. Bruising may occur as well. You can use a baby powder to protect from the chafing.
