mud runners - less prone to laminitis
Question
hello sir, i believe that horses that are exercised on muddy tracks are less prone to suffer from laminitis? am i correct?
Answer
HI -- I THINK IT DEPENDS ON EACH AND EVERY HORSE AND HOW THE FEET ARE CARED FOR. LAMINITIS IS A CONDITION IN THE HOOF AND IS CAUSED BY A FEW DIFFERENT REASONS. I DO NOT THINK THE TYPE OF TRACK REALLY HAS ANY PARTICULAR REASON FOR CAUSING LAIANITIS. WHEN THE BLOOD RUSHED INTO THE FEET AND IT NOT RETURNED BACK THROUGH THE SYSTEM, THEN THE HORSE MAY DEVELOPE LAMINITIS. IMPROPER COOLING OUT AFTER A RACE IS ONE CAUSE AND OVER FEEDING IS ALSO ANOTHER CAUSE.. HOPE THAT HELPS YOU. THANKS ED HESS
