jockey - no owning racehorse
Question
QUESTION: hello sir, may i know why a jockey is not supposed to own a racehorse when he/she is active in the profession?
ANSWER: If a jockey owns a horse then he must ride it himself. The races could be fixed if the jockey was to ride another horse and hire another rider to ride his. You can own, ride and train your own horses in the United States.

QUESTION: sir, i didnt understand what do you mean by "the races could be fixed if the jockey was to ride another horse". can you explain that to me?
Answer
There could be cheating in the race. The rider, who owns the horse, may hold back the one he is riding and allow his horse, who is ridden by a friend, to win. This would be considered "fixing a race" or "race fixing". Race fixing is cheating the public, owners and trainers involved.
