turn of foot
Question
hello sir, may i know what does "turn of foot" mean in the below race report?
"Explanation of Jockey P.S. Chouhan (VIJAYS BEST) in the presence of Trainer L.V.R. Deshmukh that his instructions were to position his mount close up with the leaders until entering the straight and thereafter to do his best in the straight which he was able to carry out until entering the straight and thereafter when asked to accelerate the colt failed to show any turn of foot inspite of his efforts, noted for future reference."
Answer
hi -- turn of foot means, a horse has a run they can make in a race , either use it early to get a position or use it some other time in the race to get position in order to run their best race. you will hear some people say boy , that horse sure had a turn of foot to win that race. thanks ED HESS
