Racing Shoes

Question
Hi there, I was just wondering whether toe grabs, weighted shoes and pads are allowed in NZ racehorses? I'm trying to find information regarding regulations for shoeing racehorses in NZ but finding it really difficult. Also, if you know the benefits of different shoes on different tracks; e.g. turf, wet tracks, hard tracks etc? Thanks very much!

Answer
Hi Ashleigh,
I suggest the best place to find information about shoes would be www.nzracing.co.nz. This is the website of the official organisation that controls racing in NZ. You will find the Rules Of Racing on that site and I expect they contain the rules pertaining to shoes.
Good luck,
Don Boddie
