i have a 4 yr old retired racehorse. he wont go right or left, all he does is throw his head around, and starts sidestepping. he also spooks at cars sometimes but not always. I'm also not sure what kind of bit i should be using. please help i love him to death. i used to work for Uri Rafieli racing stables, i groomed him for 2 yrs and waited to have him for another 2 1/2 yrs. he's a half brother to Big Brown the 2008 Preakness winner. Answerhi it may sound funny to say this , but you should have a reader come to your barn AND READ THE HORSE FOR YOU. THEY CAN SENSE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE HORSE. I WOULD USE JUST A VERY PLAIN BIT LIKE A RUBBER D BIT TO START OUT WITH. YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE HIS TEETH FLOATED BY YOUR LOCAL TOOTH FAIRY HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. THANKS ED HESS
