QuestionThe trottle responce is slow. It takes a long time to get on plane. It starts up and runs good. The most rpm I get at full trottle is 4100-4300 rpms. It acts like the carb and timing is off. I changed the prop from a 17 in pitch down to a 15 inch pitch and it didn't seam to change any. Got any ideas Bruce Crouch Freeland Wa.USA
AnswerHello Bruce,
I would check the fuel pump pressure, A weak pump will not give enough fuel to bring the engine up to full throttle RPM. You may want to try rebuilding the carb also. As for timing, if the timing was off even slightly on this engine, you may have missing and rough running at higher RPMs. Two more things to check is to take a look at the fuel line/hoses for kinks or flattened areas when running and check/replace the fuel filters.
