QuickSilver 3000 Controller
Question
My controller is stuck in forward. It can move down to give more gas but will not shift out of gear. Thank goodness this happened as I docked my boat. I am able to get it out of gear and move the shifter (it is still tight) after a little shaking after I release the cable from the engine. I am able to freely move the lower unit cable but when I reconnect and put into forward it is stuck again. My question is this a bad controller, or cable or Preload(I saw you use this in a previous help. Is the Preload the tension bar that connects along side the shift cable coming from the controller?). If it is the controller can you give some assistance on removing. I removed the cover, 2 screws in the Panel, 3 bolts (bolted into controller) but there were 3 other bolts on the controller that did not unscrew(They just turned) and I did not feel anything spinning on the back side? I did not attempt to remove the handle. Thanks for any help, Mike
My boat is a 1995 2050 SS Bayliner

i would advise you to take the boat to a mercruiser dealer to diagnose the problem. there are to many variables that could be your problem. proper adjustments from the drive to the shift, cables and then to the shifter. sorry i couldn't offer more advice.
