redfish oceanic 18
Question
hi ron, i have just found this site and love to see someone willing to help boaters. q 1, can you name a book or website with information on trim specs. and q 2, would you be able to put me and "bill" (asked about a redfish windshield) in contact as i also have an oceanic 18 ? thanks for any help steve
Answer
G'day Steve. Thank you for your kind remarks. I'm always willing to assist to the best of my ability.
Your best source for info on trim specifications would be the engine manufacturer's web site and/or their owner's manual. Reason being is simple. Engine manufacturers do not know the type of boat their engines will be mounted on/in, and the characteristics of boats differ substantially, dependant upon overall displacement, position of cargo & persons on board, hull design, width of beam, height & angle of transom, etc. There are assistive devices which can help such as hydraulic trim tabs, and the fins you attach to the anti-cavitation plate.
Hopefully, I've offered some worth while suggestions you can explore to achieve desired results.

Finding a windshield for your Oceanic 18 may be quite a task. My suggestion is to check antique boat magazines for sources advertising an identical craft, or parts for same. Consult surveyors, antique boat restorers, and older marinas & boat building yards for referrals, aside from browsing the www.
