disposal of old fiberglass boat hull
Question
Dear Sir;
Not sure if you will have insight on the following but I am at a standstill. My husband and I have a 30 yr old Larson ( fiberglas) ready to scraped. He has removed all parts but we are still left with an 18 ft fiberglass hull. Any suggestions as to what to do with this? We cannot be the first ppl to have an old boat which requires disposal but there seems to be a total lack of info/direction regarding this issue. Any advice would be appreciated.
Answer
Hi Kitty
Thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.
You could set the hull on fire or sink it, but that would create an environmental or navigation hazard. Using a chain saw, and wearing protective clothing, gloves and eyewear, you could cut it up into convenient, disposable pieces. Alternatively, ask a marine repair facility what they would recommend.
