tilting/flooring
Question
My tilt stop working last year but it still makes the humming/buzzing noise as if it is working. could it just be low in fluid, if so how do I fill it and with what type of oil, also I am re-doing my floor what is the best sealant that I should use. I am reading all different things : resin, fiberglassing , what is all this, and does this go around the edges and seams. Thanks Overtis
Answer
Hi Overtis
Thanks for selecting the undersigned to respond to your questions.
I'm not a mechanic, and you didn't mention the type and make of the engine, but it sounds like there's power in the system. Perhaps the hydraulic oil lines/level need to be checked.Have you checked the piston to see if it's bent and binding, or that a seal is leaking? I recommend you select the oil suggested by the manufacturer.
Since you didn't mention what "re-doing" my floor means (sanding or replacing wood strips, planks or sheets), my recommendation is to applay a few coats of quality urathane, and sand between each application. Keep the work area extremely well ventilated and do not attempt to start an engine or even a bilge blower during the processes. Avoid a humid day. A cool or moderately warm, dry day is far more preferable.
Encasing a floor with fiberglass is like putting saran wrap around an orange. Both need to breath, and resin doesn't work.
