1967 Corson boat
Question
I found a 1967 Corson boat someone offered to give away. They offered to give a good deal on the trailer too. They say its in great condition. We are not boaters at all. Is this an easy boat to use for a family with kids. What questions do we ask? How much is good for a trailer? Would you this this is worth the time?

Answer
Hi Tia
Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.
First of all and from your standpoint, what is the value of "a good deal"? Secondly, what is the length and type of construction of the boat? What size and make of engine does it have?
My recommendation is to consult a qualified and reputable marine surveyor to provide you with an overall assessment of the vessel, be it good or bad. At least you'll learn about its deficiencies, and how much it might cost to make the boat seaworthy and enjoyable.
New trailers range in price from $800-$2500, dependant upon the length and whether they are single or tandem (2 axle) trailers, however, they don't depreciate a lot if well maintained. Just make sure the tires are in good condition, the wheel bearings have been properly lubricated, all wiring, rollers or bunks are in good shape, and all lights function correctly.
