Answer
Hi Scott...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question. If I recall correctly, I believe your centre console "Sea Boss" is 17'-6" in length and has about a 40gal. fuel capacity.
I'm presuming the hydrofoil is plastic and was properly installed on the cavitation plate, located immediately above the top of the lower unit.
In the process, did you alter the small fin beneath the cavitation plate? When the fin is correcty adjusted, the boat should run straight without you making any steering wheel corrections. Perhaps, you may have to adjust the fin a bit more to achieve desired results. So, if the boat tends to bear to the left, turn the fin more to the right.
Also, did you check the vertical and horizontal alignment of the engine relevant to the transom and keel, and is the engine securely fastened?
Have you altered the location of any equipment carried onboard, which could have caused the boat to tilt to one particular side? In other words, were equipment and occupants evenly distributed while underway, including the weight of fuel?
Have you checked the bilge to make sure there's no accummulation of water on either side of the keel? Is the bildge pump(s) working?
Have you changed the pitch and/or diameter of your propeller? Could the prop be damaged? Is the prop slipping and not properly secured to prop shaft?
Those are some possibilities that might cause the symptom you have described. Failing all other methods of analysis, I recommend you consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic to troubleshoot and resolve the situation.
