1989 Searay Sundancer - two righthanded legs?
Question
Hi,
I'm after a bit of help/advice. I'm looking at purchasing a UK 1989 268 Sundancer and after a very thorough marine survey, one thing seems a little odd.
It appears that both engine legs are right handed. The port engine was replaced a couple of years ago with a new engine and the vendor informs me that he was told that this was the way they came from the factory (i.e. two right handed legs). The new engine and leg was fitted by a Merc dealer.
They're both Merc 4.7l units and the boat appears to have been supplied new in the UK (where I am).
Does this seem normal? Will I notice a difference in handling characteristics?
Thanks in advance
Mat
Answer
Hi Mat...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.
I'm not a mechanical technician, but it would seem to me one drive ought to turn right and the other one to the left. I suggest you consult a Mercury dealer for verification.
